In Finland, Furukawa is best known for their breakers, but the company’s range covers a host of many other types of products, such as demolishing tools. Demolishing is an expanding line of business. In Finland, for example, an increasing number of buildings from the 1970s will be demolished in the near future and replaced by new ones.
The right tools for the job at hand
Demolishing requires the use of different tools depending on the phase of the project and the site. In the primary demolishing phases of a building still standing, the main job is to cut materials and drop them down to ground level. For this job you need crushers with a longer cutter section at the back and narrow jaws. In the secondary demolishing phase your job would be crushing the pieces dropped down and sorting out some of the steel. This is where you need broader jaws, and the cutter section need not be that long.
Circular economy requires sorting of building and demolition waste, and the Furukawa range offers several different sorting grabs for this purpose. Their most popular model, the FDG, can handle sorting at demolition sites but also tearing down exterior wall cladding directly onto a truck. Besides demolition, sorting grabs can also be used for sorting in waste management as well as landscaping projects and placing curb stones.

Rental business picking up
It is also possible to rent Furukawa breakers and demolishing tools. Renting has really become more popular, and it is a good solution when your operation is seasonal or you have temporary needs for a certain period of time, a few months’ project, for example. On the other hand, you might require some extra performance to catch up on schedules either temporarily or for a longer period. In this case, a suitably equipped rental machine would be an excellent alternative.
If you need a versatile tool for demolition work, Furukawa’s multi-purpose attachment with exchangeable jaws is worth considering. The multi-purpose attachment is particularly popular in rental business, because the same tool can be used for primary as well as secondary demolition. First you use the narrower jaws with the longer cutter and then, for secondary demolition, the operator can quickly replace those with the broader jaw type.
